Verse of the day

Thursday September 10, 2026 28th day of the 6th month Elul 5786

1 Thessalonians 4:3–8 For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality;  that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor,  not in the passion of lust like the Gentiles who do not know God;  that no one transgress and wrong his brother in this matter, because the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as we told you beforehand and solemnly warned you. For God has not called us for impurity, but in holiness.  Therefore whoever disregards this, disregards not man but God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you.

Paul is writing this letter to those believers in Yeshua in Thessalonica, and most of the people who would have read or heard this letter read to them were people who turned from paganism to the living God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob through faith in Messiah Yeshua.

Paul tells them that according to God and His ways, they were to abstain from sexual immorality. They were called to live lives holy and set apart to God. They were called to be disciples of Messiah Yeshua.

Notice how Paul ends this section, “If you disregard this, you don’t disregard man, but God, who gives His Holy Spirit to you.”

The instructions Paul gave was a summary of what is written in Torah, in the first five books of the bible. It wasn’t anything new, it was and is the way God wants us to live today, and just like Paul told his readers, if you and I disregard these words, we are disregarding what God has told us and called us to do.
